Days after the Samsung Galaxy On8 showed up on a retail listing, the company has officially announced the device in India. The 5.5-inch device joins the Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7 smartphones (and their numerous variants) in the ‘On series’ and uses the in-house bred Exynos processor.
Running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with Samsung’s UI on top, the 7.8 mm thick Samsung Galaxy On8 sports a brushed metal body frame, 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED display (401 ppi) and backed by a 3300mAh battery.
On the inside, there is an Octa-core Exynos 7580 processor clocked at 1.6GHz with 3GB of RAM and 16GB built-in expandable storage space. In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 13MP camera with LED flash and a front-facing 5MP camera, also with LED flash.
The device packs Dual SIM slots, microSD card slot (up to 128GB), measures 151 x 76 x 7.8 mm in dimensions, weighs in at 169 grams and supports 4G LTE connectivity. Other connectivity options Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, micro USB port and GPS.
Available in Black, Gold and White colour options, the Samsung Galaxy On8 is price at Rs. 15,900 (US$ 240) and exclusive to Flipkart. It is expected to go on sale during the e-commerce platform’s Big Billion Days sale next week (Oct. 2nd). “Make for India” initiatives such as UDS (ultra data saving) and S bike, are also on-board.
