Samsung Electronics has unveiled the long-rumoured Galaxy S8 Lite edition as the Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury Edition (SM-G8750) in China. The mid-ranger, which inherits both the looks and features of the Galaxy S8, will arrive in Burgundy Red and Midnight Black for a CNY 3,999 (US$ 628) price tag.
The Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury features a 5.8-inch AMOLED Infinity display with 18.8:9 aspect ratio but the resolution has dropped from 2960 x 1440 pixels (QHD+) to 2220 x 1080 pixels (FHD+). It boots Android 8.0 Oreo OS with Samsung’s UI on top and packs the less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB built-in storage.
Samsung also retained other features such as Samsung Pay, Bixby, physical Bixby button, 16MP / 8MP rear and front facing cameras, facial recognition, IP68 rating, wireless charging and 4G LTE connectivity.
