Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S5 Mini without much fanfare, a more compact version of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S5. Some specs and features of the Galaxy S5 Mini surfaced online weeks ago but it has been officially announced.
The definition of mini nowadays is getting unreal, the Galaxy S5 mini features 4.5-inch screen but manages to pack all features housed on the Galaxy S5 and apart from the size, you won’t notice much differences.

The Galaxy S5 Mini features a 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display resulting in a pixel density of 326ppi, powered by a 1.4GHZ quad-core processor, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via micro SD card slot up to 64GB), 1.5GB of RAM. The device features a 8.0MP Autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a front facing 2.1MP camera.
Connectivity options on the Galaxy S5 mini includes – micro USB 2.0, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi, A-GPS + GLONASS, and also an IR Blaster which can assume remote responsibilities. Sensors include Accelerometer, Digital compass, Gyro, Proximity, Hall, Ambient light as well as the Fingerprint sensor, Heart rate sensor which is more known with the normal Galaxy S5.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini measures 131.1 x 64.8 x 9.1mm, weighs 120g, runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top. Also loaded are signature apps including Ultra Power saving mode, Kids mode, Private mode and S Health.
The device is IP67 certified which means its Water and Dust resistant even though the micro USB port is not covered.

Pricing and Availability
Global rollout of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini starts from the Russian market early this month (July) followed by other markets. The device would also be available in Copper Gold, Electric Blue, Shimmery White and Charcoal Black colour variants and there is a rumor of a Dual-SIM version launching in the nearest future.
