Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom Confirmed By FCC Listing, Gets April 29th Lauch Date

Now that Samsung has released the Samsung Galaxy S5 officially in over 125 countries, it can focus its attention on other variants. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom (also called Samsung K Zoom) has been widely rumoured in the press for a while now.

The Galaxy S5 Zoom has passed through FCC and we should expect an official announcement anytime soon. Reports on the Federal Communications Commission confirms that it approved a Smartphone with the model number SM-C115. Corresponding to previous reports which surfaced online, the SM-C115 is also none other than the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom.

Based on these leaked specs, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom will be equipped with a 4.8 inch SuperAMOLED screen with resolution of 720 x 1280. Under the hood is a six-core Samsung Exynos 5 Hecta SoC. The Mali-T624 GPU handles graphics and 2GB of RAM is on board. A microSD slot comes with the unit, and Android 4.4.2 is installed out of the box. The camera will feature a 20.2MP sensor with OIS, a Xenon Flash and a 10x optical zoom. That compares with the aforementioned 16MP snapper on the back of the Samsung Galaxy S5, which will feature an LED flash. The front-facing shooter on the “Zoom” will contain a 2.1MP sensor.

The Galaxy S4 zoom sported almost identical specifications as the Galaxy S4 mini – a 4.3″ Super AMOLED qHD display, similar design but came with a lower-grade dual-core Cortex-A9 processor so the Galaxy S5 Zoom seems like a very worthy upgrade.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
Samsung is already sending invites for its ‘Media Day Event’ which is expected to take place on the 29th of April, 2014 which observers say its a perfect time to unveil the Galaxy S5 Zoom. The invite sent out by the koren giants reads “Kapture the moment“, which indicates the company may label the phone as Samsung Galaxy K. The event is said to take place at the Red Dot Museum in Singapore.
