After every flagship device – the Galaxy S6 this time, Samsung launches different variants of the device into the market. It is not unusual to see details of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 Active showing up in rumour mills. The company has the Xcover series to cover users who want a rugged device on the cheap while the Galaxy active caters for those who want a sophisticated rugged phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active has been spotted on the official Bluetooth SIG database which means the device is near it’s launch date. The device on the aforementioned database has the codename SM-G890A which is the AT&T version of the Galaxy S6 Active.
What we know so far on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active (Samsung SM-G890A) specs – it is expected to retain the same as the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship. It should sport a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, powered by the Samsung Exynos oct-core 7420, 3GB of RAM, 32GB space of internal storage, possibly a microSD card slot, 16MP main camera and a front 5MP camera.
It is expected to run on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with the latest TouchWiz UI which is acclaimed to be bloatware free and backed by a removable 3500mAh battery. The Galaxy S6 Active will measure 73.6 x 146.9 x 8.8 mm as opposed to 70.5 x 143.4 x 6.8 mm of the Galaxy S6 and is expected to be Dust and Water Resistant as well as being able to withstand other harsh weather conditions.
