AT&T and Samsung have announced the annual rugged (Active) variant on the current flagship – the Galaxy S7, which would be exclusive to the carrier. Dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, this version keeps most of the same internals as the original S7 but is bulkier and made tougher to withstand more against the elements of nature.
Available in Camo Green, Sandy Green and Titanium Grey colours, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active has almost the same look as the Galaxy S6 Active but adds a shatter-resistant to the display and home-button embedded fingerprint sensor – a first for the Galaxy Active family. It sports a 5.1-inch QHD display and is backed by a 400mAh battery which adds to the bulkiness.
The rest of the specs include – Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, 12MP camera with DualPixel technology, front 5MP camera, 32GB built-in storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 200GB).
Sales for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active commences in June 10 for a downright price of $750 or on the AT&T Next plan ($26.50/month for 30-month or $33.13/month for 24-month duration). Those who purchase using the Next plan get a complimentary Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch.
