After weeks of leaks and rumours, Samsung has officially listed up the 2016 edition of the Galaxy Tab A this time with the new S Pen which made its debut on the Galaxy Note 7. Priced equivalent to US$ 440, the new tablet is available in South Korea but there is no details on availability and pricing outside the home country.
Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 (styled as Galaxy Tab A6) sports a 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA display and powered by an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. It packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage space.
For additional storage space (up to 200GB), there is a microSD card slot and LTE models also adds a single SIM slot to aid cellular connectivity and calls making. Power is supplied by a reasonable 7300mAh battery which is rated to last up to 14 hours of average use.
Photography is handled by a rear facing 8MP camera with LED flash while a 2MP camera sits on the front. The inclusion of the Note 7’s S Pen along with its software functionality, means the stylus can nearly replicate most of the screen functions and features of the Galaxy Note 7.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 measures 254.2 x 155.3 x 8.2 mm in dimensions ans weighs in at 525 grams. Functions such as QuickConnect and SideSync, allows the the slate connect to external devices such as the TVs, PCs, smartphones. There is an optional accessory which serves as a cover or stand for reading and typing.
