Samsung has quietly announced two tablets from the new Galaxy Tab A series family in an organised press conference in Russia today. The company has been rumored to be working on Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab A Plus slates. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets are available in two display variants – a 8-inch display and 9.7-inch display size which both comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Both slates share other specs feature – their display resolution stands at 1024 x 768 pixels, powered by a Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.2GHz (Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 tipped) with internal storage capacity tipped at 16GB. There is a microSD card slot on-board to increase storage capacity.
Both the 8-inch and the 9.7-inch versions sports a 5MP main camera, a 2MP front camera, 4G LTE support, measures 7.5mm in thinness and runs the Same Bloatware free Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with TouchWiz UI like the Samsung Galaxy S6.
The difference between the 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A and the 9.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A comes in RAM and Battery capacity – the former uses 1.5GB of RAM and 4200mAh battery while the latter sports 2GB of RAM and is backed by a 6000MAh battery. The 9.7-inch version also comes with two loudspeakers which doesn’t offer stereo support.
The 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A would sell in Russia for around RUB 16,990 to RUB 18,990 for the Wi-Fi only version and RUB 20,990 – RUB 22,990 for the Wi-Fi + LTE version. While the 9.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A would sell in Russia for around RUB 20,990 – RUB 22,990 for the Wi-Fi only version and for around RUB 24,990 and RUB 26,990 for the Wi-Fi + LTE version.
