Samsung has quietly announced the second tablet in the Galaxy Tab E series – the Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 4G LTE tablet has been recently spotted on two carriers in the US – US Cellular (Verizon) and Sprint. It follows the Samsung Galaxy Tab E (9.6-inch) tablet and has almost the same specs as the 8-inch version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A with slight differences.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 sports a 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels compared to 1024 x 768 pixels on the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and a pixel density of 189ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space.
There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB, for photography, there is a 5-megapixels rear facing camera and a front facing 2-megapixels camera for video chats. Connectivity options onboard includes – Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, GLONASS and 4G LTE.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 weighs about 358 grams, runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with TouchWiZ UI and is backed by a battery which the company says will provide up to 13 hours of usage. It is preloaded with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Skype, OneNote, OneDrive and others such as the Samsung Milk Music, Smart Manager and Samsung+.
