Samsung announces Galaxy Tab S4 and Galaxy Tab A (2018) Tablets

Samsung has introduced new tablets under its premium Galaxy S and budget-friendly Galaxy A series for the global market. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is the direct successor to the Galaxy Tab S3 from last year and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2018) is the latest to join the more affordable Tab A series.

The duo come pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS and the SmartThings connectivity feature to automate, monitor and control home appliances with the touch of a button from anywhere.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 (2-in-1)

The Galaxy Tab S4 is the first ever tablet from the brand to support the Samsung DeX and S Pen. It is powered by the last year’s high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC and backed by a 7,300mAh battery ‎that provides up to 16 hours of video playback time.

Similar in size to the Galaxy Tab S3, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 sports a 10.5-inch (2560 x 1600 pixels) WQXGA Super AMOLED display with 16:10 screen ratio‎ and narrower bezels. It also comes with four speakers tuned by AKG and Dolby ATMOS immersive sound technology.

With Samsung DeX, users can switch the interface from Android to Desktop and open multiple desktop-style windows for Android apps such as the Microsoft Office suite. An external monitor can be added via a compatible HDMI to USB-C multi-port adapter.

When fully connected to the Samsung DeX, the tablet is 100% fully functional and can also serves as a track pad or sketch pad. Samsung DeX ‎can be launched from the Quick Panel or powered on when the optional Book Cover Keyboard is connected.

The included S Pen allows the user express creativity by taking notes on the fly, navigate, translate and organise notes and send personalised texts.‎ The slate packs 4GB of RAM, 64GB/256GB built-in storage, 13MP AF + 8MP FF rear and front cameras, USB 3.1 Type-C port, POGO, 4G LTE Cat.16 (optional), Bluetooth 5.0 and Iris Scanner.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is priced starting at US$ 649.99 and US$ 749.99 for the 64GB and 256GB Wi-Fi variants respectively. Pre-orders are already open on Samsung.com and all pre-orders will get a free Book Cover Keyboard worth US$ 149.99 until September 8.

They will arrive in Black and White colour options, and go sale in the U.S from August 10 at Amazon, Best Buy and Samsung. The LTE model will be available later in Q3 2018 from Verizon first and other US carriers including AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular.

The Galaxy Tab A (2018) has the same 10.5-inch display with 16:10 aspect ratio as the Galaxy Tab S4 but with a lower 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in expandable storage.‎

It also has a USB 2.0 Type-C port, 4x speakers with Dolby Atmos support, 8MP/5MP rear and front facing cameras, 4G LTE support (optional) and ‎backed by 7,300mAh battery. With Kids Mode, the interface has been modified to be kids friendly and parents/guardians have the control to manage content and usage time. ‎

This mode also come with features such as Galaxy Apps for Kids, Kids Browser, and Eight free child-friendly apps from brands like Toca Hair Salon 3 and BRIO World – Railway. Families can also enjoy multiple accounts with the Multi User Mode.‎

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2018) will begin rolling out starting August 24. Pricing starts at EUR 329 (US$ 383) for the Wi-Fi only version and EUR 389 (US$ 453) for the LTE version. Black, Blue and Grey are the available colour options. ‎
