Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of its new flagship tablets – the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ at the Galaxy Unpacked August 2020 event. Both tablets – successor to the Galaxy Tab S6 series – are designed to optimise productivity, ultra-fast 5G connectivity support, and feature an all improved S Pen. They bring a wave of software features such as the new Samsung Notes with Audio bookmark and syncing feature with Galaxy Note 20 and Samsung PCs as well as Microsoft OneNote and Outlook.
With the Enhanced Multi-Active Window, three apps can be run simultaneously and App Pair to launch three apps at the same time. There is also the Edge screen feature lifted directly from Samsung smartphones (starting with the Samsung Galaxy Edge). Samsung has also included the popular drawing app Clip Studio Paint and six-month free offer to Clip Studio Paint EX (premium version of the app).
For PC like features, Samsung has continued support for Samsung DeX and the Book Cover keyboard. Samsung is also bringing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ and support for Bluetooth controllers. Others mentioned include Samsung Flow, SmartThings, and Music share. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 has a 11-inch LTPS TFT display with 120Hz refresh rate, 13MP (main) + 5MP (ultra-wide) dual rear cameras with Flash, 8MP front camera and fingerprint sensor in the side button.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ has a slightly bigger 12.4-inch AMOLED display with the same refresh rate, same rear and front camera configuration and an under-display fingerprint sensor. The Tab S7 is backed by an 8,000mAh battery with 45W super-fast charging while the Tab S7+ has a bigger 10,090mAh battery with the same fast charging support. Both tablets are powered by a 7nm 64-bit octa-core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus) and arrive in two configurations: 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage.
The rest of the specs include 4G LTE/5G, USB Type C USB 3.2 Gen 1, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0 and microSD card slot (up to 1TB cards). The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ are available in Mystic Black, Mystic Silver and Mystic Bronze colours and sales commence starting August 21. The Tab S7 starts at US$ 649 while the Tab S7+ starts at US$ 849. The LTE Tab S7 and Tab S7+ costs $100 more (US$ 749 and $949 respectively) while the 5G Tab S7 and Tab S7+ costs US$ 200 more (US$ 849 and $1,049 respectively).
