Samsung has the range of Galaxy Active devices (an example is the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active) which are basically rugged devices with high end specs and comes with a price. To let the lower market not being left out the company also has the Galaxy XCover series – the Galaxy XCover 2 debuted last two years (2013).
It is no official yet but Samsung is ready to announce the Samsung Galaxy XCover 3 which would be the latest rugged device from the series. It doesn’t feature any spectacular specs, but it is water, dust and sand proof. It also comes with hardware buttons – back, home and menu.
According to its GFX Benchmark listing, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 (SM-G388F) features a 4.8-inch (480 x 800 pixels) WVGA display, powered by a quad-core Marvell Armada PXA1908 chip with Cortex-A53 CPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal expandable storage.
Photography on the device would be handle by a main 5MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera. The rear camera is capable of recording video in 1080p (Full HD) and the front camera in 720p (HD).
The device would be a single-SIM(ed) device and would run on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS. The device could go official very soon or possibly at the upcoming MWC 2015 event.
