Samsung Working on Galaxy Z Flip Lite with UTG Technology

Samsung is reportedly working on a more affordable version of its foldable smartphones. The South Korean giant is expected to release the Galaxy Z Flip Lite, which will serve as a cheaper alternative to the already existing premium models (currently four of them) with Samsung’s foldable display technology.

According to Sammobile, Samsung is expected to utilise the same Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) technology used in the Galaxy Z Fold 2 for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip Lite. The UTG glass display utilised (also called Infinity Flex Display) helps the device survive up to hundred thousands of folds. Sources also report that the company is considering plans to manufacture larger units of this cheaper model and research is continuously being carried out strictly for the purpose of reducing the cost of Ultra-Thin Glass for use in foldable AMOLED displays.

Henceforth, Samsung is expected to include UTG in all upcoming foldable smartphone, be it premium, mid-tier or budget. Consumers will be receptive to the idea of affordable foldable considering the major complaint has been the exorbitant pricing. There is no official confirmation as to prove the authenticity of this report, or that of the rumoured launch of the upcoming Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra in January 2021.
