Ahead of the IFA 2014, Samsung has announced the Samsung Gear S wearable running on its Tizen OS as well as the Samsung Gear Circle Bluetooth Headset. The main highlight of the device is its Sim card slot which let’s users make and receive calls independently without any device attached to it. Asides from call notifications, the device also shows notifications from social media, text messages, calenders and other applications without accessing the smartphone.
The Samsung Gear S features a 2-inch (360 x 480 pixels) Super AMOLED curved display and a 1GHz dual-core processor keeps the device running. Other specs includes 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, heart rate sensor, 300mAh battery and S Health.
The Gear S allows users make and receive calls via 2G or 3G networks and also offers Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The device is IP67 certified which means it is Dust resistant and waterproof.

Also announce is the Samsung Gear Circle, a bluetooth stereo headset when paired with a smartphone allows users to receive calls, listen to music and make voice commands. The device has a magnetic lock which clasp around users neck when not in use and vibrates when there is a notification or an incoming call.
The Gear circle features Bluetooth 3.0 with apt-X, Touch sensor, Magnetic Sensor (Hall IC), multi point connection to connect to 2 devices at a time and a 180mAh battery. The battery is said to provide around 300h of Standby time, up to 11h of Talk time and up to 9h of audio playback.
Both the Samsung Gear S and Gear Circle would be available globally through retail and online stores starting October.
These things dont come cheap. I hope it gets to Africa soon.
