Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic officially announced

Samsung has officially announced the Samsung Gear S2, the successor to the Gear S announced in 2014. The smartwatch is the first from the company with a round face dial which is a departure front original Square faced Samsung Gear S

The Samsung Gear S2 offers a 1.2-inch display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels, a pixel density of 302ppi and has a rotating outer Bezels as well as Home and Back buttons. The smartwatch is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.0GHz, runs Tizen OS and with a 250mAh battery it lasts up to 2 – 3 days of continuous usage.

The Gear S2 has 512MB RAM, 4GB space of internal storage and has features like reading notifications, sending emails or text  through the watch, fitness functions, and setting reminders. It is IP68 certified for wtaer and Dust resistance.

Connectivity options includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and it also has NFC connectivity technology which makes it compatible with most mobile payment solutions.

The Samsung Gear S2 is available in two models – the normal Samsung Gear S2 and the Samsung Gear S2 Classic. The Gear S2 is available in Silver with a White band and Black Gray with a Black band while the Gear S2 classic is available in Black with a genuine leather band to go with it. 

There is also a 3G version called the Samsung S2 Gear 3G Version which can has 3G connectivity and is said to be the first ever e-SIM with voice capability. All three versions have interchangeable watch face plus bands and are able to charge wirelessly via an included watch dock. 

There is no word on pricing and availability but the Samsung Gear S2 and Samsung Gear S2 Classic but they would be showcased at the IFA 2015 in Berlin on September 3rd.
