Samsung has announced the latest additions to the Galaxy J series – the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in Kenya. Both midrange smartphones are available in Samsung Brand stores and authorised dealer shops in Kenya with a price tag of Ksh 21,000 ($208) and Ksh 27,000 ($267) respectively.
Speaking at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in Kenya, Samsung East Africa IT and Mobile Division Business Leader Simon Kariithi said;
“Samsung is committed to lead the 4G revolution by providing new user experiences and latest technology. With consumers embracing the 4G revolution, we are looking at expanding our product offerings. The launch of Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 aims to give consumers options in the mid-range price segment.
With optimal features and great value for our consumers, the new devices will offer an uncompromised smartphone experience, at very competitive prices. The hallmark of the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 devices is the large screens and the selfie features which are very popular with our target market. The palm recognition feature on the front camera allows users to take selfies while maintaining their natural posture.”
The Samsung Galaxy J5 and Samsung Galaxy J7 smartphones are the first set of devices from Samsung to sport a front facing Flash. Both device pack 1.5GB of RAM, 5MP front facing camera with LED flash, 4G LTE connectivity, 13MP camera with LED flash, Ultra Power Saving Mode (UPSM) and Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
Moving to the differences, the Samsung Galaxy J5 has a 5-inch 720p HD display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor and is backed by a 2600mAh battery. While the Samsung Galaxy J5 sports a 5.5-inch 720p HD display, powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor and is backed by a 3000mAh battery.
Due to its ongoing partnership with Microsoft, the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 will come pre-load with Microsoft apps such as OneDrive, OneNote and Smart Manager. Users would also get up to 100GB of Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage.
