Samsung has announced it has upgraded its custom app stores for its Android Galaxy devices dubbed Samsung GALAXY Apps. The GALAXY Apps offers different exclusive application to Galaxy Mobile users as well as discounts, offers and promotions. The newly announced GALAXY Apps is a minor facelift of the old Samsung Apps version, but the motives behind the redesigning is unknown yet.
The GALAXY Apps has the same contents at the old but the interface has been arranged, perhaps in anticipation of the Android L. There are also reports that, Samsung is looking to differentiate its GALAXY devices from upcoming devices running on the company’s Tizen OS. The Tizen OS already has smartwatches as well as already announced smartphone running on it, with HDTV coming soon on the operating system.
With the revamped Galaxy Apps, the app store has been divided into different categories such as Best pick, Top and For Galaxy and fifferent sections with – separated into four sections offering various types of apps: Galaxy Gifts, Galaxy Essentials, Apps for Professionals, and Galaxy Specials.
Samsung would be looking to take a bite out of Google Play’s dominance, as the latter is the destination for most Android users. Though Samsung and Google agree on so many issues, but competition is never short in the tech world. The GALAXY Apps is available to users across countries around the world and starts rolling out by thursday.
In other reports: At the Google I/O developers conference last month, Google and Samsung announced they had entered into a partnership to bring the KNOX security feature to Android L. There are also strong reports that Samsung is releasing full authority to Google for its KNOX security feature.
