Samsung officially launches Samsung Z1 in India for Rs 5700

We call heave a sign of relief as Samsung has taken the wraps off its long awaited Tizen OS based smartphone – Samsung Z1. The company initially opted for a flagship smartphone – the Samsung Z which didn’t make it to the point of announcement; then came the Samsung Z1 which was reportedly expected to arrive in December but was shifted to JJanuary.

Today’s announcement confirms yesterday’s leaked info that the device would debut in India this week. It is expected to compete against fellow budget smartphones in the market including Android One lineup of devices from Google.

Samsung has sweetened the deal that whoever purchases the Samsung Z1 would also get 500MB of 3G data free every month (for 6months) for Aircel and Reliance users. It also comes with free access to premium content on Club Samsung (over 270,000 songs and 80 live TV channels); free nexGTV and Box TV subscription for three months and access to humgama music for three months.

The Samsung Z1 features a 4-inch WVGA display, powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core Spreadtrum SC7727S processor with Mali 400 GPU, 768MB of RAM, 4Gb space of internal storage, Dual SIM functionality and a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

On the back is a 3.1MP camera with LED flash and there is a front facing VGA camera also on-board. Connectivity options on the device includes – 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS and Wi-fi direct. It is backed by a 1500mAh battery which also comes with the ‘Ultra Power Saving Mode’ feature and in-built Antivirus protection which automatically checks for virus when a new app is about to be installed, recieve new SMS or eMail.
