Samsung Announce One UI 3.0 Based on Android 11

Samsung’s One UI Android skin for Galaxy devices has been up updated to reflect the latest version of Android OS. The new One UI 3.0 is based on Android 11 OS and now available starting with the Galaxy S20 series (Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra) in Korea, the US, and markets in Europe. The UI upgrade will also be further extended to more regions and devices such as the Galaxy Note 20, Z Fold 2, Z Flip, Note 10, Fold and S10 series. The company’s Galaxy A devices will receive the upgrade in the first half of 2021.

According to Samsung, the One UI 3.0 brings a refreshed, clutter-free, and simplistic elegant design to the interface. The home screen, lock screen, notifications and Quick Panel has been updated to highlight important information. The widgets have been redesigned to reduce clutter and new visual effects such as the Dim/Blur effect for notifications focuses on what matters most.

The Lock Screen’s widgets are now well suited to music control and show relevant information without unlocking the device. Notifications from messaging apps are grouped front and center for easy access. There is a lot of emphasis on self-customisation including the ability to use different profiles for either personal life or work, and adding video to incoming/outgoing call screen.

Commenting on the launch, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics, Dr. TM Roh said;

“One UI 3 represents an integral part of our mission to continually create new innovative and intuitive experiences for our consumers throughout their device lifecycle. So when you have a Galaxy device, you have a gateway to new, unimagined experiences for years to come.”
