Samsung introduced its own mobile payment solution – the Samsung Pay at the MWC 2015. The South Korean company has now launched a beta version of the mobile payment service in its home country which is widely anticipated to be open to the general public in the US and South Korea by September 2015.
According to reports coming out of South Korea, the Samsung Pay Beta has gone live for testing and Korean credit firm, Samsung Card has already recruited beta testers (between July 6 and July 10) to premiere the the mobile payment service in various major offline stores. The testing will basically give an idea how the service would function.
The service would be usable at Samsung Card member stores and would be live through July 15th to August 20th (36 days). During this period, Samsung would be rewarding testers who spend more than 50,000 Won using Samsung Pay with 10,000 points and at a special event, 50,000 points to beta testers who make use of the service on a regular basis throughout the test period.
The Samsung Pay would have to trash it out with the Apple Pay, Alipay and Android Pay mobile solutions when it launches but Samsung’s mobile payment has an edge over the other thanks to the acquisition of LoopPay. It supports all forms of payments – NFC based, MST based and those using barcode technologies.
