Samsung has a reputation of trying its hands at so many things be it the Smartphone, Tablets, Smartwatches and Smart Televisions market. And it is highly looking likely that its throwing its hat into the VR Headset ring. According to Engadget and GsmArena, Samsung is working on its own VR Headset and it is set to be announced towards the end of this year.
With Sony Working on its Project Morpheus and Facebook acquiring Oculus VR, Samsung is not set to be left behind in the virtual reality scene. Samsung’s rumoured VR Headset is expected to be a mirror of the Sony’s Project Morpheus and Facebook’s Oculus Rift.
The headset is set to work with Samsung’s Galaxy range of products; the prototype is already being tested by developers and its already working with current Samsung flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 or the Galaxy S6 whenever its released. However, the consumer version is expected to work with future and unannounced Galaxy phones and Tablets.
The rumoured Samsung’s VR headset is expected to have an OLED display which is at par or better than the Oculus Rift. With the device designed for games, it remains seen how current Android Games will work with the headset. There is no word whether the upcoming VR headset will connect with Samsung devices Wireless or Wired connectivity.
The device is expected to be priced lower than the Occulus Rift and Project Morpheus with Samsung aiming to take over the market with the same tactics it used with the Samsung Gear. Samsung always aim to enter fresh market before their competitors, will it be the same case with the VR headset or the Korean based giants are simply rushing things?
