Samsung has taken off the wraps off its latest high-end Android flip phone – the Samsung SM-G9298 (aka Leader 8 or Leadership 8) in China. The clamshell device brings a number of incremental updates over last year’s W2017 (SM-W2017) which sold exclusively in the aforementioned market.
Sporting a mix of aviation-grade aluminum alloy and 3D glass, the Samsung SM-G9298 features dual 4.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display on the inside and outside. It comes pre-loaded with Android OS (either Marshmallow or Nougat) and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB BRAM and 64GB built-in storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD).
In the camera segment, the Samsung SM-G9298 sports a rear facing 12MP camera with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture, PDAF and 1.4μm pixels, along with a front facing 5MP selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture. It also features an Always-On display, rear fingerprint sensor, heart rate sensor, fast-wireless charging, Samsung Pay and keyboard Multi-function hotkey.
The Samsung SM-G9298 measures 130.2 x 62.6 x 15.9 mm, weighs 235 grams and relies on a 2,300mAh battery with fast charging.
