Samsung on its US website has uploaded the support page for the yet-to-be announced Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. The device has some similarities with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active which was announced around this time last year.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is a more rugged version of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S6; it is water and dust proof; it is also expected to come with Military standard (MIL-STD-810G) certification which would see it withstand very harsh weather conditions such as humidity, vibration, solar radiation, salt, dust and thermal shock.
Talking about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active specs – it sports a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, powered by an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 32GB UFS 2.0 space of internal storage, 16MP rear camera and a front facing 5MP camera. It also comes with hardware keys and an additional hardware Active Key.
Connectivity options on the device includes – USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.1, Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC, Wi-Fi Direct GPS, GLONASS and 4G LTE. Sensor options includes – Accelerometer, Barometer, Fingerprint Sensor, Gyro, Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Hall Sensor, HR Sensor, Light Sensor and Proximity Sensor.
The Galaxy S6 Active measures 143.5 x 70.6 X 6.85mm in dimensions, weighs 138 grams, Single SIM slot (Nano SIM) and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with the latest TouchWiz UI expected ontop. It is backed by a 2550mAh battery which is expected to provide up to 57 hours of music play-back time and up to 23 hours of talktime on 3G.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is expected to be an AT&T exclusive device in the US at launch but could still make its way to other countries at a later date. Camo White and Titanium Black are currently the only listed colour options.
