Samsung W20 5G Foldable phone with SD855 Plus, 12GB RAM

On the heels of the release of the new Motorola Razr with foldable flip display, Samsung has teamed up with China Telecom to unveil the Samsung W20 5G in China. The foldable smartphone has the same form factor as the Galaxy Fold but the processor has upgraded to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus mobile platform, 5G capability has been added and battery capacity has downgraded to the 4,235mAh.

The Samsung W20 5G sports a larger 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED display with 4.2:3 aspect ratio which folds sideways into a smaller 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with 21:9 aspect ratio. It is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Samsung Pay (NFC + MST), Dolby Atmos stereo speakers tuned by AKG and retains both wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) fast charging.

The phone has a triple main camera setup which includes a primary 12MP (f/2.4 – f/1.5, OIS) Dual Pixel lens paired with 12MP (f/2.4, 45° FoV) Telephoto lens and 16MP (f/2.2, 123° Ultra-Wide sensor) lens with 0.5X/2X optical zoom and up to 10X digital zoom. The front camera setup is made up of a 10MP (f/1.9) Dual Pixel primary lens and secondary 8MP (f/2.2, 90° FoV) camera.

The phone has an extra 10MP (f/2.2) camera on the front cover and boots Android 9.0 Pie. It packs 12GB of RAM, 512GB built-in storage, USB 3.1 Type-Cis expected to be priced above the non-5G Galaxy Fold which is currently on sale in China for CNY 15,999 (~USD 2,276/ EUR 2057 / AUD 3,351).
