Samsung Electronics unveiled its new flagship flip phone – the Samsung W2019 at a launch event in China. The follow-up to last year’s W2018 sports dual rear cameras, an improved processor, side -mounted fingerprint sensor and Bixby can be activated via a dedicated button.
The Samsung W2019 sports two 4.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD S-AMOLED displays on either side of the flip panel. The body is made from a combination of glass and anodized aluminium with diamond-cut design, and arrives in Platinum and Rose Gold colours.
Internally, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform paired with 6GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB built-in storage. It measures 17.3 mm thick (when the clamshell is closed), weighs 257 grams and depend on a 3,070mAh battery.
The Samsung W2019 has dual 12MP sensors on the back – one with f/1.5-2.4 variable aperture, OIS and the other with fixed f/2.4 aperture, 2x lossless optical zoom and up to 10x digital zoom. The front facing camera is a 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
Pre-loaded with Android Oreo OS with Samsung’s UI on top, the W2019 comes with the usual exclusive concierge services from Samsung such as free software fixes, free screen and battery replacement, executive hotline, phone disinfection and more.
The Samsung W2019 also has a microSD slot, NFC and USB Type-C 3.1 port for charging, audio and transferring data. It is on sale starting today (November 11) and available exclusively via China Unicom starting at CNY 18,999 (US$ 2731).
