Last month, we brought word on a supposed Meitu M4 smartphone from a relatively lesser know Chinese OEM. The device was certified on TENAA, packs a 13MP front camera for seflies and from the leaked image we got our hands on the device has an unusual form factor.
One of the highlight of the Meitu M4 is its large front facing 13MP CMOS sensor which should take high-res selfies and make video calls. The rear camera is the same 13MP CMOS sensor; the camera is likely made by Sony. There is a selfie (selfie-potrait) mode which is dedicated to the women. The other highlight is the unusual form factor – the device has a v-shaped top and buttom though makes it bulky but also makes it easilly tracted to people.
Moving to the specs – it sports a 4.7-inch (1280 X 720 pixels) HD IPS LCD display, powered by a 64-bit Octa-core MediaTek MT6752 clocked at 1.7GHz with 32GB space of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. Connectivity options on the device includes – Dual Band (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and 4G LTE Cat.4 (up to 150Mbps).
The device uses a Nano SIM card but it is unclear if it is actually a single SIM or Dual SIM device. The OS it boots is the Android 4.4 kitkat Os based MeiOS 2.0 and is backed by a non-removable 2160mAh battery. It supports these network bands – TD-LTE / FDD-LTE / TD-SCDMA / W-CDMA and GSM.
The Meitu M4 is available in three colour options – Mint Green, Red and Moonlight White for a price equivalent to $354 (RMB 2199) in China. There is also a customised version which costs $403 (CNY 2499) and is expected to be available too.
