Users can now send money using Facebook Messenger app to friends. The company officially announced the new feature today and is expected to pave way for a more convenient and more secure way of sending and receiving money between friends.
Sending money using the Facebook messenger app is free and easy to use. When chatting with a friend a new dollar like sign icon ‘$’, once you tap on it and click on the amount you want to send. All you need do next is tap pay and input your credit card details. To receive money, user just have to open the conversation with the sender and add card details to receive money for the first time.
Once you have added your card details for the first time, other times you want to receive or send money using Facebook messenger than it becomes very easier. Money sent using this medium is transferred immediately but depending on the bank it may take one to three business day for the money to be available.
The next thing that might come to mind is one’s card or details safe? Facebook make the point of stressing that user can create a PIN which will be entered whenever a user wants to send money. The payment system would also take advantage of the TouchID feature on iOS devices.
This new feature would be available in the US alone and would be available on Desktop, iOS and Android in coming months.
