Alongside the rugged looking Kyocera-made Android One S2, SoftBank and WILLCOM OKINAWA also jointly announced the Android One S1 for the Y! Mobile brand. This mid-range device made by Sharp is expected to go on sale by February and will be available in the colours of Black, Pink, Turquoise and White.
As is the norm, being an Android One smartphone means it boots the latest version of Android (Nougat) and receive direct updates from Google. It sports a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IGZO LCD display, IPX5/IPX7 waterproof & IP6X Dustproof and a moderate 2530mAh battery which take 145 minutes to go from 0 to 100%.
The smartphone features an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (MSM8937) processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space (expandable up to 256GB via microSD). In the camera department, there is a 13.1MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 8MP camera for selfies and video chats.
Connectivity options on the device includes – 4G LTE (Cat. 4), VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Hotspot and micro USB. The Android One S1 measures 143 x 69 x 8mm in dimensions and weighs about 134 grams.
