Sharp Aquos Crystal Y with edge-to-edge display and 4G LTE announced

Sharp and Softbank has announced the Sharp Aquos Crystal Y, a phablet sized smartphone with edge-to-edge display (Bezel-less) design. The device slots into the Aquos Crystal series and has already gone on Sale in Japan.

The Sharp Debuts Aquos Crystal Y features a 5.5-inch S-CG Silicon LCD screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD resolution. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm MSM8974 processor clocked at 2.3GHz paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot onboard for storage expansion up to 128GB.

There is a 13.1MP AutoFocus camera with CMOS Sensor, f/1.9 aperture and a front facing 1.2MP camera also with CMOS sensor. It measures 139 x 73 x 11 mm in dimensions, weighs 157 grams, runs Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and is backed by a 2610mAh battery which provides around 850 minutes of talktime on 3G.

Connectivity options on the Sharp Aquos Crystal Y includes – Dual Band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and 4G LTE. The device has no audio jack, thus, it is said to use a special technology to transmit sound as vibration through the front panel and also comes with Harman/Kardon speakers. 

The Sharp Aquos Crystal Y is selling for $355 sans contract, and comes in Red, Black and White colour options.
