Sharp has announced a new Aquos smartphone – Sharp Aquos L2 for the local Japanese market. The device is dust-tight (IP6X) and waterproof (IPX5/X8), and comes fitted with FeliCa chip (IC Chip) to support Osaifu-Keitai (Mobile Wallet) – the de facto standard mobile payment system in Japan.
Pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat OS, the Sharp Aquos L2 has a 5-inch IGZO display with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) screen resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It relies on a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 mobile platform with Adreno 505 GPU and 2GB RAM.
In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 13.1MP camera and a front facing 5MP selfie camera. The device packs 16GB built-in storage space (expandable up to 256GB) and relies on a 2700mAh Li-po battery, that is expected to deliver 24 hours of talk time and 950 hours of standby time.
The Sharp Aquos L2 supports 4G LTE (Cat. 4) networks, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. It measures 143 x 71 x 8.3 mm in dimensions, weighs 138 grams and will arrive in Black, Lavender and White colours. It is said to be available for a lump payment of JPY 33,000 (US$ 299) or JPY 1,375 (US$ 12.5) for 24 times payment (Both excludes tax).
