For the first time in a long time, SHARP has announced a new high-end smartphone – the SHARP AQUOS S2, which will be available outside Japan. Similar to a number of previous Aquos smartphones, the device has an edge-to-edge display and closely resembles the recently released Essential Phone (PH-1).
Having an impressive 87.5-percent screen-to-body ratio, the SHARP AQUOS S2 sports a 5.5-inch (1080 x 2040 pixels) 2K Full HD+ display, which makes use of the company’s Free Form Display (FFD) technology. The fingerprint sensor can be found in the front home button sitting below the display.
The device is equipped with dual rear camera setup – (12MP f/1.75 sensor + 8MP sensor), which is the same expected on the upcoming iPhone 8. It will arrive in two models: the ‘Standard version’ with 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 630 and 64GB storage space; and a ‘Higher version’ with 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 660 and 128GB built-in storage. Both storage options are expandable.

Pricing and Availability
The Sharp AQUOS S2 has gone on pre-order in China. The standard model (4GB RAM) is priced at CNY 2,499 (US$ 3740 while the higher model (6GB RAM), which will arrive at a later time, will go on sale at a later time for CNY 3,499 (US$ 524).
