Google’s seemingly abandoned Android One smartphone line has a new entrant in Japan. The SHARP X1 has one of the best specs yet from the line with a waterproof and dust proof body, support for Android Pay and the presence of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS – the latest available.
Available in Black, White and Green colours, the SHARP X1 has a 5.3-inch IGZO LCD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) screen resolution and a lasting 3,900mAh battery that promises up to four days of usage time. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 mobile platform clocked at 1.4GHz paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB built-in storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD).
The device is equipped with a front facing 8MP camera, rear facing 16.4MP camera with LED flash, USB Type-C port for charging and fingerprint sensor (front home button). Connectivity option on the device includes – 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS / GLONASS.
As expected, the SHARP X1 will receive timely updates directly from Google for the next 1 – 2 years. It can be purchased outright for JPY 70,524 (US$ 621) and via a 24-month contract with Japanese carrier – Y! Mobile.
