Chinese device maker, Smartisan (Hammer Technology) has unveiled the successor to the Nut Pro 2 in China. The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S, as it is known, is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 10nm octa-core processor and expected to compete against devices such as the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE and Vivo NEX Series.
The Smartisan Nut Pro 2S sports the same (metal + glass) body design but adds Glare Blue and Glare Red to the already known Carbon Black (with Thin Red Line) and Pure White colours. It comes with a 6.01-inch Full HD+ OLED display and depends on a 3,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0.
The smartphone is equipped with 12MP (f/1.8) + 5MP (f/2.0) dual rear cameras with AI technology and a front facing 16MP (f/2.2) camera. The rear camera records 4K videos @30fps while the front records 1080p @60fps. The camera scored 95 points at DxOMark, which places it slightly higher than the iPhone 8 but lower compared to devices such as the Huawei P20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8.
It has a USB-C Port and supports TV-out for connecting to a TV via USB-C to HDMI cable. The Nut Pro 2S also comes pre-loaded with Smartisan OS 6.6.5, which comes various features such as frosted glass feature for privacy, game acceleration mode, Infinite Screen and new lock screen.
In terms of pricing, the 4GB + 64GB Smartisan Nut Pro 2S model is priced at CNY 1,798 ($263) while the 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB options are priced at CNY 1,998 ($293) and CNY 2,298 (337). The company is also selling themed phone cases based on Michael Jackson, Agatha Christie and Schrodinger’s Cat characters.
