Snail Mobile W3D gaming smartphone with 4200 mAh battery now available on pre-order

Finally, the Snail Mobile W3D gaming smartphone is now up for pre-order; the device was showcased at the CES 2015 event earlier this year. The device is available for $400 on pre-order on Amazon and would officially launch in the markets on September 9.

The Snail Mobile W3D is basically a smartphone built for the games in mind and also has glasses-free stereoscopic 3D display. It has dedicated face buttons, Directional Pad, Dual analog joysticks and a set of Dual shoulder triggers on both sides.

It is very hard to see a smartphone dedicated to gaming not to talk of one coming with the necessary gaming controller buttons. If the brand on the device was replaced with a Sony logo, you would have passed it for a PlayStation Vita. So far Sony still has the first Android gaming phone – the Sony Xperia Play.

In terms of specs, the Snail Mobile W3D doesn’t slack too; the phablet sized device sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD screen with glasses free 3D display which is enabled by the same eye-tracking camera tech used by Amazon on its Fire Phone smartphone. This keeps the 3D enabled as the eye moves from one part of the screen to another.

Under the hood it is powered by a powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6595 processor clocked at 2.2GHz with 2GB of RAM, 16GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. On the rear there is a 13MP camera, a 5MP front camera for selfies and it boots Android 4.4 Kitkat OS out-of-the-box.

As expected from a Chinese made smartphone the W3D supports Dual SIM slots and there is support for 4G LTE too. The Snail Mobile W3D has Dual USB ports whicn means the device can be charging as well as syncing to a computer simultaneously. It is backed by a 4200mAh battery which is tipped to provide around 6 hours of usage but that would vary according to different user usage.

There is no word on the dimensions of the device but be prepared to see large bezels around the display if you are thinking of getting the gaming phone. Despite the fact that the listing page says the device would be out in December, Snail mobile assures that September 29th is the real date.
