Student’s continous struggles with math problems and homeworks are one of the sad truths about our world today. In a bid to combat this decline, US based startup – Socratic has a free iOS app developed to help students solve all form of math problems and also help with solutions to other subject questions.
Socratic uses artificial intelligence (AL) to determine what information is required, and gives step-by-step solution and explanations on how to come up with the answer. The tutor app only requires the user to snap a photo of the question to be solved, even if it is in handwritten form.
This digital tutor app combines computer vision technologies, that reads questions from images (even handwritten ones), and machine learning classifiers built using data from millions of student questions, to accurately predict which concepts will best solve the question.
Asides from maintaining and providing both jargon-free and simple contents, Socratic also prepares color-coded instructions, graphs, curated videos, and relevant definitions for easy understandings. The app currently supports 23 different subjects, including science, History, English and Economics; and there are futuritic plans to tap into more subject fields.
