SoftBank has announced a ‘Star Wars’ themed smartphone manufactured by Sharp. The limited edition STAR WARS Mobile will arrive in Japan starting early December via the carrier in ‘Dark Side’ and ‘Light Side’ colour variants for a price yet to be stated.
Based on the high-end Sharp Aquos Xx3, the aluminium metal and glass covered device is ‘filled to the brim’ with elements and characters of Star Wars franchise ranging from wallpapers to applications and ring tones. It is also dustproof & waterproof (IPX5, IPX8 / IP5X) and sports a fingerprint sensor.
Moving to the specifications, the STAR WARS Mobile sports a 5.3-inch Full HD IGZO LCD display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) processor clocked at Quad-core (2.2GHz × 2 + 1.6GHz × 2), single Nano SIM slot and backed by a 3000mAH battery.
It packs 3GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD), supports LTE Cat-A, Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Photography is handled by a rear facing 22.6MP camera with OIS and f/1.9 aperture and front facing 5MP camera with wide-angle lens.
