The Tizen-OS running Samsung Gear S2 has been tipped to be one of the best smartwatch in the market despite not running Google’s Android Wear OS. The company is reportedly working on a new addition to its smartwatch collection with a new device, codenamed Solis – Latin or Spanish word for Sun.
According to sources, the Samsung Solis will have a circular display just like the Gear S2 and also runs Tizen OS but with a much better and updated user interface. At the moment, the specs of the new smartwatch is unknown, however, it should keep the classic watch design along with the rotating bezel.
It could also have a bigger display size, better functionality or gimmick and maybe a larger battery life. Along the codename, some of the model numbers of the new Gear S watch have been revealed as SM-R760, SM-R765 and SM-R770.
Others include the SM-R765V and SM-R765S which could both turn out to be the version for top US carriers – Verizon (V) and Sprint (S). Although it seems too early but Solis could potentially step in line as the new Gear S smartwatch – the Samsung Gear S3.
