Sony Mobile Communications says it is targeting a return to the top of the smartphone market in Nigeria with its Xperia line of devices. The Japanese company has announced digital equipment distributor, Let Me Distribute (LMD) as its ace distributor in the Nigerian market.
The agreement between both companies was signed last year but it only came to fruition this year; Sony Mobile confirms LMD would have sole distribution rights for the Sony Mobile Xperia range of smartphones and tablets.
The company also confirmed Ensure Services would be charged with the responsibility of providing after-sales services for all Xperia products.
Commenting on the announcement, Sony Mobile Communications Country Manager Nigeria, Mr Younes Cherkaoui, said:
“We are very happy to partner with Let Me Distribute as our only authorized partner for the very vast Nigerian market and we are confident that they have what it takes to service the needs of all our customers across the Nigerian market. LMD has a very good knowledge of the Nigerian market and has the capacity to cover the whole market”.
The company also reiterated plans launch more innovative and add more Xperia models and technology at affordable costs to Nigerians.
The latest smartphone from the company’s flagship Z series of device is the Sony Xperia Z4 which launched internationally as the Sony Xperia Z3+. The company is reportedly rumoured to announce the Sony Xperia Z5 smartphone in September.
