In a rather quiet manner, Sony has officially announced the Sony Xperia A4 smartphone in Japan and the device would be available through Japanese carrier, NTT DoCoMo for a price yet to be announced. The Xperia A4 is widely tipped to be the announced globally as the Sony Xperia Z4 compact.
The Sony Xperia A4 (Xperia A4 SO-04G) is powered by a quad-core qualcomm snapdragon 801 processor and keeps the same 4.6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD Triluminous display as the Sony Xperia Z3 compact. Task on the device is handled by 2GB of RAM and there is 16GB space of expandable internal storage.
On the rear, there is a 20.7MP camera with LED flash and the front camera is a 2.2MP unit. Connectivity options on the device includes – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE. The Sony Xperia A4 measures 128 x 66 x 9.1mm in dimensions, weighs 129 grams, runs Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 2600mAh battery. The device is also IP68 certified for dust and waterproof.
Pre-orders for the Sony Xperia A4 is already on, the device would start shipping by Mid-June. Black, Blue, Copper and White are the available colour options.
