Sony has officially announced a new Xperia smartphone in Europe. Priced at EUR 199; the Sony Xperia E5 has the same design as the Sony Xperia X devices, slots into the lower mid-range segment and boots Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It is available in Single and Dual SIM (Sony Xperia E5 Dual) variants; Black and White colour options but no word on availability yet.
Measuring 144 x 69 x 8.2mm and weighing in at 147 grams; the Sony Xperia E5 packs a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display and is backed by a 2700mAh battery which is expected to deliver up to 2 days of battery life (mixed usage). Under the hood, there is a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space.
For additional storage space, there is microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 200GB. In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 13MP camera with LED flash while the front camera is a 5MP snapper, also with LED flash. Connectivity options on board the Sony Xperia E5 include 4G LTE/3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, NFC, FM radio, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth.
