Sony Mobiles has announced the launch of the Sony Xperia Hello in Japan. The communication robot (more like digital assistant) is targeted at families and based on the company’s ‘Xperia Agent’ concept which was showcased back at the MWC 2016.
Designed to recognise registered members of the family and assist with daily life activities by simply talking to it, the conical-shaped Sony Xperia Hello features a 4.6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD LCD touch screen display in the lower body and responds to voice control as well as facial expressions and gestures.
Hello is equipped with seven microphones to pick up voices and four motion sensors to detect people coming near from 3 metres out and. It rotates up to 340 degrees and performs functions such as reading news and weather forecasts, making Skype voicce and video calls, and taking photos from every angle.
The Sony Xperia Hello (G1209) is compatible with LINE (Japan’s messaging equivalent of Whatsapp and WeChat) and offers personalised experience for evey member of the family. It is priced at JP¥ 150,000 (US$ 1,320 |EUR 1,135) and will be available in stores in Japan from November 18th.
