Do you know that Sony has never released a SIM-Free smartphone in Japan? Well, now you know the company has announced its first SIM-Free smartphone in Japan and that is the Sony Xperia J1 Compact. The device has a mixture of midrange and high-end specs in a very compact body and is tipped by some sources to be very similar to the Sony Xperia A2 which is exclusive to NTT DoCoMo.
The Sony Xperia J1 Compact (D5788) sports a 4.3-inch(1280 x 720 pixels) HD LCD display, powered by a Quad-core Qualcomm snapdragon 800 processor which clocks at 2.2GHz with Adreno 330 graphics, 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot on-board for storage expansion.
The Xperia J1 Compact packs a 20.7MP main camera on the back which of course is a Sony Sensor and a front facing 2.2MP camera. Connectivity options on the device includes Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and like most Xperia devices it is IPX5/IPX8 certified for Dust and water protection.
The Sony Xperia J1 Compact runs Android 4.4.4 kitkat OS pre-installed, weighs 138 grams, measures 128 x 65 x 9.7mm in dimensions and is backed by a 2300mAh battery which comes with Stamina Mode included. The device is expected to go on sale starting April 20 in combined Champagne and White Colour option for $490 through NTT DoCoMo.
