Waterproof has always been synonymous with the Sony Xperia high end devices but the company is extending the capability to its midrange lineup with the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua. The Xperia M2 Aqua is also Dustproof and tagged with the tagline ‘Waterproof Smartphone for everyone’.

The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua sports a 4.8-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution display, powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. There is a 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. The device features a 8MP rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor and LED flash; as well as a 1.1MP front camera for selfies and video chats.
Sony says the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua has the highest dustproof and waterproof rating (IP65/68) in a smartphone. The device can survive being immersed in 1 metre of water indefinitely. The device runs on Android 4.4 kitkat and is powered by a 2330mAh battery.
The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua would be available in Black & White & purple colours and would be be available in Latin America, Asia Pacific and European markets starting Autumn 2014.
