The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is one of those competitive midrange devices in the market – it is price moderately, the specs are decent and of course the water resistant body. However, before you get the 8GB version of the smartphone, you will need to prepare to buy a microSD card as only 1.26GB space is available for storage.
As reported by XperiaBlog.net, the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua 8GB version has only 1.26GB user-available space compared to the 3GB space the company claims is available. The rest of the space is taken up by the pre-installed apps and Android 5.0 takes 50% of the space (4GB). This device used here is a SIM free device, those purchased from carriers could have a lesser available storage as the company would still add it’s own apps.
Even when you try to delete some unwanted apps the most space you can free up is about 470MB which just moves the storage to around 1.73GB. That’s very little considering your own essential apps are not installed yet and considering you cannot most of your apps to the microSD card.
If you are still hell-bent on getting the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, you should go for the 16GB space which would have more user-available storage. Android M is said to bring support for SD cards in form of Adoptable Storage devices. This would allow devices running the OS to use their micro SD cards as internal storage.
Whether the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua would see the Android M update is unknown and at the moment the 8GB version of this mid-range phone is next to useless if you are a heavy smartphone user.
