Sony Xperia M5 announced with 21.5MP camera and 0.25s Hybrid AutoFocus

Sony has announced a new high end midrange Xperia smartphone – the Sony Xperia M5. The new addition to the Xperia family of devices is the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua successor and it’s specs are top notch. It is expected to cost around €360/$395 and available in Black, Gold and White Shades.

The highlight of the Sony Xperia M5 is in the Camera segment; on the rear there is a 21.5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, ISO up to 3200, 4k video recording and has a 0.25s (250 milliseconds) fast hybrid autofocus. The front camera isn’t far behind either, it is a 13MP snapper for selfies, has AutoFocus and can record 1080p videos.

The Xperia M5 sports a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display and is powered by a MediaTek Helios X10 (2GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6795) 64-bit processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage (10GB User available). There is a microSD card slot available obviously for addional storage up to 200GB.

Connectivity options on the device includes – 4G LTE/3G, NFC, GPS/GLONASS, USB 2.0, micro USB, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The USB port on the device is capless, it weighs around 142.5 grams, measures 7.6mm thin and is available in Single-SIM and Dual-SIM variants.

Running Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Sony Xperia UI ontop, the Sony Xperia M5 is dust-proof and waterproof (IP65/IP68 certified), supports 4G LTE in some regions and is backed by a 2600mAh battery which provides up to 656 hours (GSM) or 607 hours (LTE) of standby time.
