Sony Mobiles has unveiled two new Xperia smartphones – the Sony Xperia R1 and Sony Xperia R1 Plus for the Indian market. Both models have identical rounded frame with 2.5D curved Glass design and specs however, the storage space capacity and memory (RAM) sets them apart.
The Sony Xperia R1 arrives with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space (UFS) for a price tag of INR 13,990 (US$ 215) while the Sony Xperia R1 Plus comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage space for INR 15,990 (US$ 246). Both storage options are expandable up to 256GB via microSDXC.
Pre-loaded with Android 7.1 Nougat OS, both phones pack an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (SD430) processor with Adreno 505 GPU and sports a 5.2-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD TFT LCD display, USB Type-C port, single or dual SIM support, and a 2620mAh battery.
Photography on the R1/R1 Plus is taken care of by a rear facing 13MP camera with Sony’s Exmor Sensor and front facing 8MP camera. Both cameras have predictive Hybrid AutoFocus, 12 capturing modes, continous shooting, face detection, 8x clear zoom, countdown timer and beauty mode.
