Sony Mobiles has introduced mid-range Xperia smartphones – the Sony Xperia XA2 and Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra at the ongoing CES in Las Vegas. Both selfie-focused models are the follow-up to last year’s Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra smartphones, and will start hitting the markets globally by February 2018.
Both pre-loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo OS, the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra are equipped with the same primary 22.57MP Sony Exmor RS sensors with f/2.0 lens, rear facing fingerprint sensors and 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor with Adreno 508 GPU.
Both models support Quick Charge 3.0 technology and Qnovo Adaptive Charging alongside Sony’s Smart Stamina mode, and are available in Single and Dual SIM options. Connectivity and port options include: 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, microSD card and USB Type-C.
The Sony Xperia XA2 sports a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, front facing 8MP camera with 120-degree, f/2.4 wide angle lens and a 3,300mAh battery. It measures 142 x 70 x 9.7 mm, weighs 171 grams and packs 3GB of RAM alongside 32GB built-in storage.
The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra packs a bigger 6-inch display with the same resolution, 4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB built-in storage and a bigger 3,580mAh battery. It measures 163 x 80 x 9.5mm, weighs 221 grams and feature dual front facing cameras – 16MP (OIS, 88-degree, f/2.0 wide angle lens) + 8MP (120-degree, f/2.4 super wide-angle lens).
The Xperia XA2 will arrive in Black, Blue, Pink and Silver colours while the Xperia XA2 Ultra will be available in Black, Blue, Gold and Silver colours.
Sony Xperia L2
Alongside the Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra, the company also launched the Sony Xperia L2 to succeed the Xperia L1. It has the same 5.2-inch HD display as its predecessor, however, it packs 3GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage, front 8MP camera with 120-degree wide angle lens and 3,300mAh battery.
