Apple has recently launched its flagship smartphones from the year with the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Alongside the smartphones the Cupertino giants also announced its long rumoured smartwatch and a new payment solution the Apple Watch and Apple Pay.
Expecting a big screen device from iPhone is surely a break from the norm, considering the Late Apple CEO Steve Jobs branded big screen device as unnecessary FIX THIS. The iPhone 6 sports a 4.7-inch display and the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch display moving it to the phablet category. Now that we have seen flagship devices from almost every major smartphone manufacturer in the industry; the iphone 6 is being compared to Android flagship devices announced already this year – the Samsung Galaxy S5, the LG G3, Sony Xperia Z3 and the HTC One M8. Have it in mind we are only considering basic specs and features these devices have in common as the iPhone 6 runs on iOS 8 and the others on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS.
Dimensions and Weight
With Apple touting the iPhone 6 as the thinnest iPhone ever; the device measures 138.1 x 67 x 6.9mm; Compared to its predecessor iPhone 5s it is longer and broader but thinner. Compared to the other Android flagship devices pitched against it; the Samsung Galaxy S5 measures 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm, the LG G3 at 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9mm, the Sony Xperia Z3 at 146 x 72 x 7.3mm and the HTC One M8 measures 146.36 x 70.6 x 9.35mm. Overall, the iPhone 6 looks the slimmest and the HTC One M8 the bulkier of the devices
The iPhone 6 is the lightest in the weight category at 129 grams ad the HTC One M8 is the heaviest at 160 grams. Meanwhile the Galaxy S5 weighs 145 grams, the LG G3 at 149 grams and the Xperia Z3 weighs 152 grams.

Display
If you had expected to see an Apple smartphone with over 4-inch display you would have doubted it right? Well, as you have it the iPhone 6 rocks 4.7-inches of display but it is still far behind compared to 5-inch on the HTC One M8, 5.1-inch on the Galaxy S5, 5.2-inch on the Xperia Z3 and a massive 5.5-inch on the LG G3.
Processor
In this aspect itis hard to choose as the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 plus are both powered by Apple’s 64-Bit A8 chipset along with M8 motion coprocessor. Meanwhile, the other four Android smartphone have the same processor – a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz. Depending on the region, Samsung also has an Exynos 5420 SoC variant of the smartphone.
Its really unnecessary to compare the Apple’s A8 processor and the Snapdragon 801 processor because the A8 has not been detailed to know the specifications yet. Some sources say it is a Quad-core and other say it is a dual-core processor. But overall, the 64-BIt A8 chipset can only be detailed if it has been put through it paces on the benchmark or it has been thoroughly tear down by an hardware site.
Memory and Storage
The iPhone 6 has been detailed to sport 1GB of RAM though it is all combines with the chipset, its difficult to point out as the. Smartphone still offers optimal performance. Compared to the other devices, the Galaxy S5 sports 2GB of RAM, the LG G3 with 3GB or 2GB of RAM, the Xperia Z3 with 3GB of RAM and the HTC One with 2GB of RAM.
Going over to the storage, the iPhone 6 is available in three variants (16GB, 64GB and 128GB) with no microSD card slot. The Galaxy S5 & LG G3 rocks 16GB or 32GB with microSD card slot (up to 128GB), the Xperia Z3 & HTC One M8 with 16GB internal with microSD card slot (up to 128GB)
Camera
From past experience judging a smartphone’s camera with its pixel count rather than its output quality is really uncalled for. Starting from the front camera; the iPhone 6 features a 1.2MP camera, the Galaxy S5 rocks a 2MP front camera, the LG G3 rocks a 2.1MP front camera, the Xperia Z3 with 2.2MP front camera and the One M8 with a massive 5MP front camera.
On the rear, the iPhone 6 sports a 8MP iSight camera while the HTC One M8 features a 4-Ultrapixel Camera, the Xperia Z3 with a 20.7MP camera, the Galaxy S5 with a 16MP camera and the LG G3 with a 13MP camera.
Like I said earlier, judging by the specs on Paper the HTC One M8 does overly well in the camera department but the same camera found on the iPhone 6 is almost the same found on the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C with more added features. Using the camera on previous iPhone 5 series it’s know that whatever camera the iPhone comes with also delivers top notch performance.
Due to Apple’s hardware-software optimisation it is hard to really underrate the iPhone 6 compared to the other flagship devices with top specs and features from top players in the industry.
