Swipe has announced what it calls ‘the most affordable VR-enabled smartphone around’ – the Swipe Elite VR. The budget device is available exclusively from ShopClues in India and selling for a price tag of Rs. 4499 (US$ 71). Black, Gold, Red and White are the available colour options.
Pre-loaded with the now dated Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and Swiftkey keyboard, the Swipe Elite VR sports a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display and comes bundled with a Virual Reality (VR) headset. It depends on a 3,000mAh battery which is expected to last about a day of usage or more.
On the inside, the device is powered by a quad-core Mediatek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB built-in storage, which is expandable via microSD. As with almost any smartphone released in India in recent times, it supports 4G VoLTE and has dedicated Dual SIM slots.
For photography, the Swipe Elite VR is equipped with a rear facing 13MP camera with LED flash alongside a front facing 5MP camera for selfies and video chats.
The India-based company also released another smartphone with 4G VoLTE support – the Swipe Konnect Star 2017. The 4-incher, which is targeted at first time buyers, has a quad-core processor, WVGA screen resolution, 1GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage, 5MP rear camera and front 1.3MP camera.
It is priced at Rs. 3,333 (US$ 52) and boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with Indus OS ontop.
