T-Mobile and ZTE have announced an entry-level smartphone – the ZTE Obsidian. The device will launch on the carrier on August 13th; there are two options to purchase the device – either a one-off payment of $99.00 or a $0 down payment and 24 payments of $4.17.

The ZTE Obsidian features a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) resolution display, powered by a 64-bit quad-core Mediatek MT6735 processor clocked at 1.0GHz, 1GB of RAM and 4GB space of internal storage. For additional storage, there is microSD card slot onboard for expansion (up to 32GB).
On the rear, there is 5MP camera with LED flash; and a front facing 2MP for selfies and video chats. Connectivity suite includes Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and support for 4G LTE connectivity.
The ZTE Obsidian measures 137.41 x 68.58 x 10.16mm in dimensions, weighs around 132 grams, runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and is backed by a 1800mAh battery which is expected to provide 6 hours of talktime or a bit less than 11 days of standby time.
